SHIP FUMIGATION
CUSTOMER:
Shippers, charterers, shipowners, agricultural export businesses, and logistics companies need to protect bulk cargo throughout the sea voyage. This service is especially necessary for high-value shipments, long transit times, and those that must meet the strict quarantine requirements of the importing country.
TARGET OBJECTS FOR FUMIGATION:
The target for fumigation is bulk cargo transported on ships and the cargo hold space of the ship. Commonly applicable goods include rice, corn, cassava chips, beans, animal feed, and various agricultural products and organic materials at high risk of insect, pest, and microbial damage during sea transport. The service is also applied to empty ship holds before loading new cargo to ensure the holds are clean and ready to receive goods.
LEGAL BASIS:
FCC is an independent fumigation and inspection organization, licensed by the Department of Crop Production & Plant Protection to handle and issue legally valid fumigation certificates. The fumigation process complies with the Department’s guidelines and meets the quarantine requirements of importing countries, and the Fumigation Certificate issued by FCC is widely accepted at the port of destination.
Fumigation Services:
FCC provides comprehensive ship fumigation services, designed to suit the specific needs of bulk cargo shipping. This includes fumigation of empty ship holds before loading. FCC uses internationally recognized chemicals such as Phosphine (PH₃), with precisely calculated dosages and application methods to ensure effectiveness for cargo.
METHOD – PROCEDURE:
FCC’s ship fumigation process is implemented according to strict safety standards. First, the chief technician surveys the ship, cargo hold structure, cargo type, and voyage route, and checks the tightness of the ship’s holds to ensure safe fumigation conditions. Then, points at risk of gas leaks are sealed with specialized materials. Fumigation chemicals are applied according to calculated dosages, accompanied by warning signs at all entrances and exits. After the prescribed incubation period or according to the fumigation procedure during the voyage, FCC ventilates, vents, and measures the concentration of residual gases to ensure absolute safety before unloading. Finally, FCC issues a legally valid Ship Fumigation Certificate.
WIDE MARKET COVERAGE:
FCC provides ship fumigation services at seaports, anchorages, and loading locations as requested by customers. With practical experience in maritime fumigation and a thorough understanding of the quarantine requirements of demanding import markets, FCC has been accompanying many shipments to markets in Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and the Middle East.
FRUITING REQUEST INSTRUCTIONS:
When requesting ship fumigation, customers need to submit a service request specifying the ship name, type of cargo, cargo volume, fumigation method (before departure, during voyage, or empty hold), route, time and location of execution, and contact information. If necessary, customers can provide additional documents related to the shipment so that FCC can advise on a suitable fumigation method that meets the quarantine requirements of the importing country.
