LOSS ASSESSMENT BEFORE AND AFTER CHARTERING A SHIP

CUSTOMERS:

Ship owners, charterers, P&I Clubs / insurers requiring independent documentation in case of, or in preparation for, disputes

SURVEY OBJECTS:

Chartered vessels (bulk carriers, container vessels, oil tankers, etc.). Technical condition at the time of delivery and redelivery. Fuel on board (Bunker/ROB): FO, DO, Lube Oil. Key areas/items of focus: cargo holds, deck, cranes/winches, hull, hatch covers and related components

LEGAL BASIS:

Independent survey reports with photographic evidence serve as the basis for determining damages arising during the charter period, reconciling fuel quantity differences at delivery and redelivery, and resolving disputes between ship owners and charterers

Survey organization capability certified to ISO/IEC 17020 – VICAS 043 (FCC)

Assessment in accordance with the contract / charter party terms and the survey scope requested by the involved parties

SURVEY SERVICES:

1. On-hire Survey (at delivery): Recording the full condition of the vessel before the charterer takes over operation. Bunker Survey conducted at the time of delivery

2. Off-hire Survey (at redelivery): Recording the vessel condition at the end of the charter period. Bunker Survey conducted at the time of redelivery

3. Main items in each survey:
Condition Survey: cargo holds, deck, cranes/winches, hull (visually accessible areas), defects/dents/cracks/corrosion, etc.

Bunker Survey: tank sounding, application of calibration tables, conversion by temperature and density to accurately calculate FO/DO/LO quantities

  • Customers are required to submit:
  • A survey request clearly stating the scope, time and location of the survey, and contact person
  • Information related to the cargo shipment (B/L, packing list, Customs declaration, Invoice, etc.)
